New In from Riley Blake

We are excited to have some new pre cuts & sewing notions available from Riley Blake Designs.

First of all, Lulabelle by Dodi Lee.  This range has a sophisticated palette of purple, pink, mint and navy.  The bird & birdcage illustrations along with floral elements bring a feminine feel, which is balanced with modern geometric & medallion prints to give a well rounded & contemporary collection suitable for a huge range of sewing projects.
Next up is Calico Days by Lori Holt.  In true Lori Holt style this collection has a classic, fun and vintage vibe.  Combining small prints, florals & text in a palette of yellows, pinks, blues, greens & browns, this fabric collection would be a great choice for a little girls bedroom decor project.
Both collections are available in store and online as 10" & 5" stackers - stackers are an easy and affordable way to showcase an entire coordinating fabric range in a project - and best of all, they are already cut to make piecing a breeze!

Mix and match these gorgeous fabric ranges with our newly stocked Sue Daley Lace Zippers & Riley Blake "Sew Together" Gingham Buttons to make a truly cute and unique project.

Happy Sewing :)

February Book of the Month

Savour Each Stitch: Studio Quilting with Mindful Design
by Caroline Friedlander
published with Lucky Spool, 2014
Caroline Friedlander is a popular pattern + fabric designer from Florida, USA.  With a background in architecture, Caroline has made her mark in the quilting, craft + textile world with a modern + refreshing approach to pattern + colour.  Known for her modern, organic aesthetic + love of hand appliqué, her quilts are instantly recognisable by her use of pattern, colour + texture.
Savour Each Stitch is "an exploration of how eight different projects can be completely reinterpreted by incorporating the design principles of line, contrast, colour, scale, emphasis, texture + volume."
This is a particularly inspirational book for those quilt makers keen to take the design process into their own hands; tips + workshops are included throughout on developing the design principles to suit your own unique style.
This is a far cry from your typical quilt pattern book - hand appliqué features heavily with an emphasis on the "slow sewing" philosophy + enjoying the process of hand making.
You can purchase a copy of Savour Each Stitch from our online store or our Noosa Heads store.

Happy Sewing!

Sophie's Cardigan

I am really excited to share my first crochet finish for 2016!  This is a beginner crochet pattern by one of my favorite pattern designers Mon Petit Violon.  It works up quickly, has the option of short or long sleeves & best of all – there’s no seams!
I chose to use Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima cotton in Buff and I think it shows off the stitch detail beautifully – it’s also a perfect weight for the cooler Winter months (or not so cool Winter months) on the Sunshine Coast.
